disrespected は dis-「欠如・反対」＋respect＋-ed。respect はラテン語 respectus、さらに respicere「振り返って見る」に由来し、本来は「相手をよく見ること」。inspect, spectator と同じ spec- 系で、そこから「敬意を払わなかった」と発展した。
Disrespected consists of disrespect plus the past-tense or past-participle ending -ed. Disrespect combines dis-, indicating absence or opposition, with respect. Respect comes from Latin respectus and respicere, literally “to look back at” or “regard,” formed around the specere root “to look.” This root also appears in words such as inspect and spectator. The English formation thus expresses a completed act, or resulting condition, in which proper regard was not shown.
