engram はドイツ語 Engramm 経由で、ギリシャ語 en-「中に」+ gramma「書かれたもの」に由来します。記憶が脳内に“書き込まれた跡”だと考えると腑に落ち、grammar や graphic も同じ graph/gram 系です。
