goober は、抜けていて少し変なことをする人を軽くからかうアメリカ英語の俗語です。強い侮辱というより、親しい相手への「おまぬけ」「変なやつ」に近く、愛嬌や呆れ笑いを含む場面で使われます。南部の「ピーナッツ」義とは別文脈です。
