解説 Definition
血糖値が異常に低い医学的状態。インスリン過剰、食事不足、過度な運動など様々な原因により発生し、めまい、疲労、発汗などの症状が現れます。
Hypoglycemia is a medical condition in which the level of sugar in the blood becomes too low. It is usually discussed in medicine, especially in relation to diabetes, diet, or the body’s energy balance. Because it is a technical health term, it is mostly used in medical or educational contexts.

まず hyperglycemia（高血糖）と対で覚えると整理しやすいです。hypo- は「不足・低い」、反対の hyper- は「過剰・高い」。glyc- は glucose / glycemic など「糖」の仲間、-emia は anemia などにも見られる「血液の状態」。つまり全体で「血中の糖が低い状態」。hypo- で始まる語は低下系が多いですが、hypoglycemia は hypoxia のような酸素不足ではなく sugar の話、と切り分けると混同しにくいです。
