覚え方のコツ
internist は internal「内側の」から連想すると覚えやすいです。-ist は scientist, specialist と同じで「その分野の人」。つまり『体の内側の問題を専門にみる人』。手術をする surgeon と対比すると、診断・投薬・慢性疾患の管理を担う内科医だと定着します。see an internist, an internist treated my diabetes のような場面で覚えると、広い doctor より意味が絞れます。intern「研修生」と形が近い点にも注意。
