Islam はイスラム教を指す語です。アラビア半島で始まった一神教で、信者は Muslim（ムスリム）と呼ばれます。宗教名としては通常 Islam と大文字で書きます。
Islam is a monotheistic world religion that began in the Arabian Peninsula and is based on belief in one God and the teachings revealed to the Prophet Muhammad. Its followers are called Muslims.

This genuine word-family link helps organize the vocabulary without reducing the religious meaning to the English word peace alone.
