adverb

Definition

In a noble and generous way toward an opponent or someone in a weaker position. It especially describes choosing not to blame, humiliate, or take revenge when one has the advantage.

Memory Tip

magnanimously forgive a rival、praise the losing team、decline to blame anyone

Think of a winner showing a “big heart” by praising the losing side instead of boasting. The focus is noble treatment of others, not simply giving money or possessions generously.
