解説 Definition
正しくない情報を与えられて、事実と異なる理解をしている状態を表す形容詞。本人が故意に誤っているのではなく、周囲から受け取った情報が間違っていたために認識がずれている場合に使う。人や世論、判断などについて述べるときによく現れる。
If someone is misinformed, they have been given wrong or incomplete information. Because of this, their understanding of a subject is not accurate. It often describes people who believe something untrue because of what they were told.

mis- は mistake, misunderstand と同じ「誤って」。informed は inform「知らせる」の過去分詞なので、misinformed で「誤って知らされた結果、事実をずれて理解している」とつかむと覚えやすいです。何も知らない uninformed とは違い、「情報はあるが中身が間違い」という点が重要。be misinformed about the facts, a misinformed public のように、人・世論・判断が誤情報の影響を受けた場面でよく出ます。故意にだます側ではなく、誤った情報を受けた側に使う語です。
