oak はオーク材、またはその材料になるナラ・カシなどの木を指す語です。日本語の「オーク」は家具や床材の意味で使われることが多いですが、英語では木そのものを指す場合もあります。
Oak is the strong, durable wood obtained from an oak tree, commonly used for furniture, cabinets, and flooring. The same noun can also refer to the tree itself, but in material expressions such as made of oak it means the wood.

Oak descends from Old English ac, the inherited Germanic name for the tree. It is related to words such as German Eiche and has been used in English since its earliest recorded stages.
