Omniscience means knowing everything. It is often used in religion, philosophy, and literature, especially when talking about a god or a narrator who knows all thoughts and events. The word is formal and abstract.

`Omni-` often means all, as in `omnivore` or `omnidirectional`. Connect the middle of the word with `science` and knowledge, and you get the idea of knowing everything. It helps to learn it with `omniscient`, and to keep it separate from `omnipotent`, which is about power, not knowledge.

omniscience は中世ラテン語 omniscientia「全知」に由来します。omni-「すべて」+ scientia「知識」から成り、science や conscience も同じ scire「知る」に連なります。つまり「あらゆることを知っていること」がそのまま「全知」です。
