perceive は、目や耳で感じ取るという意味とは別に、人や状況を「こういうものだ」と認識したり理解したりするときにも使う。特に perceive A as B の形で、AをBだと受け止める・見なす文脈でよく用いられる。世間の印象や評価を述べる場面で頻出する。
