presenters の語源・成り立ち Etymology
ラテン語 praesentare(目の前に差し出す)から。prae-(前に)+ sentare(置く)の構成で、「人前に提示する人」が原義。present(贈り物・提示する)やrepresent(代表する)も同根。情報や番組を聴衆の前に届ける役割を指す。
Presenters is the plural of presenter, formed by adding -s. Presenter combines present with the agent suffix -er, literally identifying a person who presents. Present as a verb came through French from Latin praesentare, “to place before” or “show,” related to praesens, “being at hand or present.” The occupational noun later became common for speakers and for people who introduce or conduct broadcast programs and public events.
