改革派

A reformist is a person who supports change in order to improve a system, institution, or society. The word is often used in politics or religion for someone who wants progress through change rather than keeping old ways exactly the same.

reformist は reform「改革する」+ -ist「…する人」。reform はラテン語 reformare、つまり re-「再び」+ forma「形」からでき、form や transform と同根です。改革派とは、社会の形を作り直そうとする人だと語源から見えてきます。
