解説 Definition
restructuring は restructure の動名詞で、効率化や改善のために会社・組織・制度・財務などの仕組みを組み直す「再編」「再構築」を表します。人員削減を伴う場合もありますが、それに限りません。

re-（再び）+ structure（構造）+ -ing。structureはラテン語struere（積み上げる・建てる）に由来。「構造を再び組み立て直す」が原義。関連語：construct（建設する）、destruction（破壊）。同じ語根struから建設も破壊も生まれた。
