Sightless means unable to see. It can describe a person who is blind or something that has no power of sight. The word is more literary or formal than the everyday word blind.

sight を sightseeing や eyesight の sight と同じと押さえると、一気に見慣れた形になります。-less は homeless, hopeless, powerless のように「〜がない」。したがって sightless は「視力・視覚がない」。ポイントは「見えない物」ではなく「見る力がない側」を表すことなので invisible と混同しないこと。日常語では blind のほうが普通で、sightless はやや描写的・文語的。a sightless man, sightless eyes のようなまとまりで覚えると定着しやすいです。
