相乗効果
解説 Definition
2つ以上のものが組み合わさることで、それぞれを個別に足すよりも大きな効果や価値が生まれることを指します。ビジネスやプロジェクトでは、異なる分野やチームが協力することで、予想以上の成果を生み出すことができます。
An effect in which people, groups, or things working together produce a better result than they could separately. It is common in business, teamwork, and creative projects. The word is often used when talking about cooperation and combined strengths.

まず core は「協力」ではなく「一緒になると単独以上に効く」こと。business では create synergy, generate synergy, team synergy などでよく出て、merger や collaboration と相性がよい。cooperation が単に協力する行為なのに対し、synergy は 1+1>2 の成果そのものを指す。別々では普通でも、組み合わさると価値が跳ね上がる場面を思い浮かべて覚えると残りやすい。

synergyはギリシャ語synergiaに由来し、syn-「共に」+ ergon「仕事」から成る語。energyやergonomicsと同根で、「一緒に働く力」が、足し算以上の相乗効果になると分かる。
