英語でも音はほぼ「タロット」なので入口はやさしいが、実際は tarot cards や a tarot deck の形で見ることが多い。普通の playing cards ではなく、絵柄や象徴を読み取って運勢や内面を見る特別なカード一式、と場面ごと覚えると残りやすい。read the tarot, tarot reading も頻出。つづりは taro（里芋）で終わらず tarot なので、語尾の t を落とさないよう注意。
Remember it as tarot cards or a tarot deck, not just the single word by itself. It is usually talked about as a special set of cards, different from normal playing cards. Watch the spelling: it ends with a silent t, so do not confuse it with taro.

tarot の語源・成り立ち Etymology
tarot はフランス語 tarot から英語に入り、さらにイタリア語 tarocchi／tarocco にさかのぼります。語源自体は不確かですが、もとは占い名ではなくカード遊戯やその札の名で、そこから「タロットカード」の意味が定着しました。関連語は tarocchi、Tarock。
Tarot entered English through French tarot and goes back to Italian tarocchi or tarocco. Its deeper origin is uncertain. The word first referred to a card game and the special cards used in it, and only later became strongly linked with fortune-telling.
