それによって、そのことが原因で、そのようにして、という意味の副詞です。前の文や節の内容が理由や手段となって、結果や行動が生じることを表します。
Thereby means 'by that action' or 'as a result of that.' It is used to show how one thing causes or helps produce another result. It is more common in formal or written English than in everyday conversation.

thereby は there「そのこと」+ by「〜によって」と見て、『そのことによって』とそのまま取ると覚えやすいです。前に述べた内容を原因・手段として受け、後ろに結果が続くときによく使われます。therefore が『だから』と結論を言う語なのに対し、thereby は『その結果として／そのやり方で』と因果を文の中で滑らかにつなぐ感じです。reduce costs, thereby increasing profits のように、結果を後ろから添える形も頻出です。thereafter など時間を表す語と取り違えないようにすると定着します。
See `thereby` as `there + by`: by that, or by doing that. It often links one action to its result inside the same sentence: `reduce costs, thereby increase profits`. Do not mix it up with `therefore`, which sounds more like a clear conclusion: `so`.
