threshing は動詞 thresh の -ing 形なので、まず「脱穀するという工程名」と押さえると覚えやすいです。thrash（激しく打つ）を知っていれば、穀物を打って実を外す場面を連想できます。harvesting（収穫）の後、winnowing（もみ殻を飛ばす）や milling の前後に出やすく、grain / wheat / rice と結びつけると定着します。plowing（耕す）や sowing（種まき）ではなく、収穫後に中身を取り出す作業だと工程順で整理すると混同しにくいです。
