相場より安く売られた。市場価値より低い価格で販売されたこと。
If a product or seller is undersold, someone else offers the same thing at a lower price. It is mainly used in business and shopping contexts. It can also mean something was valued or promoted less highly than it deserved, but the price meaning is more common.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
まず sold が「売られた」、under- が「基準より下」と見えれば、「相場・本来の価値より下で売られた」と取りやすい語です。cheap は単に安い状態ですが、undersold は「安すぎる売られ方をした」という含みが出やすいのが記憶ポイント。be undersold, undersold at a low price, competitors undersold it など、価格競争や評価不足の場面と一緒に覚えると定着します。undersell は動詞の原形、undersold はその過去・過去分詞です。

undersold は under-（下・下回って）+ sold で、sell は古英語 sellan（引き渡す、売る）に由来します。undersell や seller と同系で、「相手より下の値で売る」という骨組みが、そのまま安売りされた状態の意味につながっています。
This is the past form of undersell, built from under- and sell. Sell comes from Old English sellan, which first meant "to hand over" before narrowing to trade and sale. The idea of selling "under" someone else developed into selling at a lower price than others.
