ビニール、またはビニール製品という意味です。英語の vinyl は素材名のほかレコード盤を指すこともあり、日本語の「ビニール袋」のような広いプラスチック全般とは少しずれる場合があります。

覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
vinyl は英語では特定の合成樹脂素材を指し、vinyl cover、vinyl floor、vinyl sheet のように素材名として名詞の前にも置かれます。またレコード盤の意味もあります。日本語の「ビニール」がポリ袋などプラスチック全般を広く指す用法とは一致しない点を意識しましょう。
Remember vinyl through the objects it commonly describes: a vinyl cover, vinyl flooring, a vinyl sheet, or a vinyl record. In English, the word usually identifies a particular plastic-based material or records made from it. This is narrower than Japanese ビニール, which may be used loosely for plastic bags and many kinds of plastic. When speaking English, do not automatically call every soft plastic object vinyl; a plastic bag is normally simply a plastic bag. The second major image to remember is music: collectors often say they buy or listen to vinyl when they mean records.

vinyl の語源・成り立ち Etymology
vinyl は化学語で、ラテン語 vinum「ワイン」に由来する vin- と化学接尾辞 -yl からできています。もともとワイン由来のアルコールに関わる化学研究から名づけられ、そこから樹脂名として広がりました。vinegar や vino も同じ vin- を含みます。
Vinyl began as a term in chemistry. Its first element is historically connected with Latin vinum, “wine,” through chemical work involving alcohol, while -yl is a suffix used in names for chemical groups. The word later became strongly associated with vinyl compounds and synthetic resins, especially polyvinyl chloride, commonly abbreviated as PVC. From the material, vinyl also developed its familiar use for phonograph records manufactured from vinyl-based plastic.
