覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
Africa は大陸名なので必ず大文字で始め、前置詞 in と結ぶ in Africa「アフリカで・に」を基本形として覚えます。African は「アフリカの・アフリカ人」、the African continent は「アフリカ大陸」です。日本語の「アフリカ」と音が近い一方、英語では最初の A に強勢を置く発音を意識しましょう。
Africa is a proper name, so always begin it with a capital A. Link it with the common location pattern in Africa, as in “Many animals live in Africa.” The related word African can be an adjective meaning “from or relating to Africa” or a noun referring to a person from Africa. Although the English name resembles Japanese アフリカ, pay attention to the English stress, which falls on the first syllable. Also remember that Africa is a continent containing many distinct countries and cultures, not the name of a single country.
例文

Africa の語源・成り立ち Etymology
ラテン語の「Africa」に由来します。古代ローマで北アフリカの地域を指した名前でした。
The English name Africa comes through Latin Africa, the Roman name for a province and region in North Africa. In Roman usage, the name initially referred more narrowly to territory around present-day Tunisia and neighboring areas. It was later extended to the continent as a whole. The deeper origin of the Latin name is uncertain, so proposed explanations should not be treated as established fact.
