arch- は archbishop などにも出る「上位・長」の目印、deacon は教会で仕える執事。まず deacon を知っておき、「その前に arch- が付くと、執事の中でも上位で司教を補佐する役になる」と階層で覚えると残りやすいです。bishop と混同しやすいですが、archbishop は司教側の上位職、archdeacon はあくまで deacon 系の高位聖職者。教会の組織図を頭に置き、deacon → archdeacon → bishop のように位置関係で整理すると定着します。
