attend が「出席する」だと分かれば、attendee はそのまま「出席している人」。employee, trainee などと同じ -ee は「その立場の人」を作る語尾なので、語尾ごと覚えると増やしやすいです。conference attendee, registered attendee のように会議や講演の参加者を言う場面でよく出ます。participant よりも「その場に実際に出席している人」に寄り、attendant は「係員・付き添い」で別語なので混同注意。
Start with `attend` = be present at an event. Then notice `-ee`, a common ending for a person in that role, like in `employee` or `trainee`. Keep it with phrases like `conference attendee` and do not mix it up with `attendant`.

Attendee was formed in English from attend plus the suffix -ee. The suffix -ee is used for a person involved in an action, as in employee or trainee. So attendee literally means "a person who attends." It is newer than attend and was built from that existing verb rather than borrowed whole from another language.
