aural は audio と同じ「音・聞く」グループだと結びつけると覚えやすいです。visual が「見る」なら、aural は「聞く」。特に oral（口頭の）と1字違いで非常に紛らわしいので、aural test は耳で聞いて答える試験、oral test は自分で話して答える試験、と対比すると定着します。aural skills, aural information のように、音声・発音・リスニングなど「耳から入る情報」と一緒に思い出すと、聴覚的なの意味がぶれません。

aural はラテン語 auris「耳」に、形容詞語尾 -al が付いた語です。つまり本来は「耳に属する」で、意味がそのまま「聴覚の」に伸びたと分かります。auricle や auricular も同じ aur- を持つ仲間です。
