A bestiary is a book or collection of descriptions about animals, especially in medieval literature. It often includes both real and imaginary creatures and may give symbolic or moral meanings to them.

beast（獣）を知っていれば核はすぐ取れます。bestial も同根なので、「獣っぽい・野性的」という感触と結びつけると定着しやすいです。さらに -ary を「集めたもの・記録物」っぽい語尾として見ると、bestiary はまず「獣を集めた本」。ただし zoology のような学問書でも、animal encyclopedia のような中立的図鑑でもなく、ライオンや狐、ドラゴンなどの動物ごとに象徴や道徳的教訓を添えて読む中世の説話集だ、と用途まで一緒に覚えると強いです。
A `bestiary` is easy to remember if you see `beast` inside it. Think of an old book where many animals appear, each with a lesson or symbol, not just a story about one animal. That helps separate it from a single `fable`.
