円形である性質や、輪のように循環している性質を指します。また論理では、前提が結論に依存するような循環論法の性質を表します。
Circularity is the quality of being round in shape or form. It can also mean a kind of reasoning where the conclusion is repeated in the argument instead of being properly proved, so the idea goes in a circle.

circularity は circular + -ity で、核の circul- はラテン語 circulus「小さな輪」に由来します。『輪である性質』がそのまま円形性で、話や論証に使えば『ぐるぐる元へ戻る』感覚にもつながります。関連語は circle、circulate。
Circularity is built from circular and the noun ending -ity. Its root goes back to Latin circulus, meaning "small ring" or "circle," which also gave English circle and circulate. From the idea of being round, the word later also came to suggest returning to the starting point in thought or argument.
