まず核は concept「概念」。そこに -ual「〜に関する」→ -ly「副詞」がついて、「概念のレベルで」「枠組みとしては」という意味になる。具体例・実務・現場の話ではなく、抽象的に整理するときの語。actually や practically と対比すると覚えやすい。conceptually similar, understand it conceptually のように使われ、「考え方としては分かるが、実際にできるかは別」という文脈でもよく出る。theoretically に近いが、理論そのものより“どう捉えるか”の枠組みに焦点がある。

conceptually は concept＋-ual＋-ly。concept はラテン語 conceptum にさかのぼり、con-「共に」＋ capere「取る」からできました。物事を頭の中で“つかんだ形”として考えるので「概念的に」。関連語は conceive、conception。
Conceptually is built from concept, -ual, and -ly. Concept goes back to Latin conceptum, from concipere, made of con- "together" and capere "to take."
