お世辞（おせじ）とは、相手を喜ばせたり気に入られるために、心にもないことを褒めたり持ち上げたりする言葉です。社交上の礼儀的な褒め言葉から、不誠実な過度な褒めまで様々です。通常、相手の気分を良くすることが目的です。
