解説 Definition

consent は古フランス語 consentir を経て、ラテン語 consentire にさかのぼります。con-「共に」+ sentire「感じる」なので、もとは「同じ気持ちになる」。そこから「同意する」となり、sense や sentiment も同じ sentire 系です。
The word traces through Old French consentir to Latin consentire. This combines con-, meaning together, with sentire, meaning to feel, giving the original idea of feeling together and then agreeing.
