個人や企業が借金を返済できる能力の評価。融資審査で重視される信用度。
覚え方のコツ
credit + worthy + -ness と分けると覚えやすい。credit は「信用・貸し」、worthy は be worthy of trust のように「〜に値する」。つまり「お金を貸してもよいと思える度合い」。銀行やカード審査で judge/evaluate creditworthiness, improve creditworthiness の形でよく出る。credibility が発言の信頼性、creditworthiness は返済能力を含む金融上の信用力、という違いを押さえると混同しにくい。
