直方体は、6つの長方形の面を持つ3次元の立体図形です。すべての角が直角で、対面する面は同じサイズです。
A cuboid is a solid shape with six rectangular faces. It looks like a box, and its length, width, and height can be different. The word is used in geometry and mathematics.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
cube（立方体）を知っていれば入口が作れます。cuboid はまず「cubeっぽい形」と捉えると覚えやすい語で、語尾の -oid は asteroid などにもある「〜のような形」という型。つまり cube と違って“全部の辺が同じ”必要はなく、箱のように縦・横・高さが違ってよい立体です。イメージは dice ではなく shoe box。geometry では cube とセットで区別されやすいので、「立方体ではない箱型の3D」が記憶フックになります。
Think of `cube` first. The ending `-oid` means `like` or `shaped like`, so a `cuboid` is cube-like, not a perfect cube. Picture a shoe box, not a dice.
