Draping means arranging fabric so that it hangs in loose, soft folds. It is commonly used in fashion, sewing, and interior design when cloth is shaped over a body, model, or surface.

drape を知っていれば、その -ing 形で「布をたらして形を作る動き・状態」とつながる。cover がただ覆う、hang が単に掛けるのに対し、draping は布がやわらかく垂れ、自然な folds（ひだ）が出る感じが核心。curtain, fabric, dress など布ものと相性がよく、interior や fashion の場面でよく使う。drapery と並べて覚えると、平らに置くのでなく“掛けて美しく見せる”語だと定着しやすい。
