Dualism is the idea that two basic and opposite parts or forces exist together, such as mind and body or good and evil. The word is mainly used in philosophy, religion, and abstract discussion.

まず dual を確実に結び付けると覚えやすいです。dual は「二つの」、-ism は「主義・考え方」なので、dualism は「世界を二つの原理で見る考え」。特に mind-body dualism のように、精神と身体、善と悪のような二項対立で語られやすい語です。monism（一元論）と対で覚えると定着しやすく、duality は「二重性」、dualism は「二元論という立場」と区別すると混同しにくくなります。
