If someone is egocentric, they think mainly about themselves and their own needs or opinions. The word is often used to describe a person who does not pay enough attention to how others feel.

ego が入る語は「自分」に意識が向くものが多いとまとめて覚えると整理しやすい。さらに centric は center を連想して「中心に置く」感覚を持てば、egocentric で「自分を中心に物事を見る人」。self-centered とほぼ近いが、egocentric は少し硬めで、心理学的に「他人の視点を取りにくい」という響きもある。egotistical は「うぬぼれが強い」で少し別なので混同注意。an egocentric person / an egocentric attitude の形で覚えると使い所まで残る。
