Centric means centered on a particular person, thing, or idea. It is usually used as the second part of a word, such as user-centric or family-centric. It shows what gets the main attention or importance.

centricはcenterに形容詞語尾-icが付いた語で、centerはラテン語centrum、さらにギリシャ語kentron「刺す先・中心点」にさかのぼる。concentricやeccentricも同じ語根。円の一点にすべてが集まる感じから、「中心的な」の意味がつかめる。
Centric comes from center plus the adjective ending -ic. Center comes through Latin centrum from Greek kentron, which could mean a sharp point or the center point of a circle. From that image of everything meeting at one point, centric came to mean focused on or organized around a center; related words include concentric and eccentric.
