カエルは湿地や水たまりなど湿った場所を主な生活の場とする小型の両生類です。跳躍や泳ぎに適した強い後脚を持ち、皮膚呼吸を補助するため肌は常に湿った状態にあります。幼生はオタマジャクシとして水中で暮らし、変態して陸上へ移ります。
