glorification はラテン語 gloria「栄光」＋ facere「作る」に由来する glorificare を経てでき、-ation は「行為」を表します。つまり「栄光あるものにすること」から、実際以上によく見せる『美化』の意味になりました。関連語は glory, glorify。
