A grantor is a person or organization that legally gives something to another person, such as property, rights, or official permission. The word is mainly used in legal, financial, and contract-related contexts.

grant が「（権利・許可・財産を正式に）与える」。そこに行為者を表す -or が付いて、「与える側の人」と押さえると覚えやすいです。セットで grantee は「受け取る側」なので、grantor / grantee を対で覚えるのが近道。法律文脈では give よりずっと formal で、grant land, grant rights, grant a license のように、権利や不動産をきちんと移す場面に出やすい語です。donor は一般的な寄付者、grantor は契約・贈与で法的に渡す人、と区別すると定着します。
