norn は古ノルド語 norn に由来する神話語で、接頭辞や接尾辞に分けるタイプの語ではありません。英語の Norns や古ノルド語複数形 nornir と同系で、運命を織り定める存在そのものを名にしたため、「運命の女神」という役割が語の中に直に入っています。
