sensorimotor は sensori-「感覚の」+ motor「運動の」から成る語で、前者はラテン語 sentire「感じる」、後者は movere「動かす」に由来します。sense や motion と同根で、感じることと動くことが一続きだと示す名だと分かると意味がつかみやすいです。
Sensorimotor is made from sensori- and motor. The first part comes from Latin sentire, "to feel," and the second from movere, "to move"; they are the same roots behind sense and motion. The word was formed to show the close link between sensing and movement as one connected process.
