Oolong is a type of tea that is partly fermented, so it is between green tea and black tea in taste and color. It is commonly drunk in China and other parts of Asia. The word is mainly used when talking about drinks and tea culture.

oolong の語源・成り立ち Etymology
oolongは中国語の烏龍茶（wūlóng chá）に由来し、烏は「黒い」、龍は「龍」を表します。黒くねじれた茶葉や湯の中でうねる姿を「黒い龍」に見立てた名とされ、語源を知ると見た目からこの名になったことが腑に落ちます。関連語は別表記wulong。
Oolong comes from Chinese wulong cha, literally "black dragon tea." The name refers to the dark, twisted tea leaves, or to the way they seem to curl and move in water like a dragon. English borrowed the word as the name of this tea, and a related spelling is wulong.
