覚え方のコツ
orthodontic は braces（矯正器具）, orthodontic treatment, orthodontic clinic のような形でまとめて覚えると残りやすい語。general dentist が虫歯や検診まで広く扱うのに対し、orthodontic は歯並び・かみ合わせを整える専門に寄る。ortho- は orthopedic にも出るので形は似るが、orthopedic は骨や関節、orthodontic は teeth 側、と対比すると混同しにくい。名詞の orthodontics、専門医の orthodontist も一緒に押さえると記憶が固まる。
