解説 Definition
outrank の過去形・過去分詞形。軍隊や会社などの序列で、ある人が別の人より高い階級や地位にあることを表す語で、受け身の was outranked by ... では「相手のほうが上位で、自分は階級や地位が下だった」という意味になる。
Outranked means had a higher rank or position than someone else. It is used for military, police, business, or other organized systems with clear levels of authority. In the passive form, was outranked means someone else had more authority.
