A persuader is a person or thing that makes someone change their mind or agree to something. It is used for someone with a strong ability to influence others, especially through speech or argument.

persuader は persuade に「…する人」の -er が付いた語で、persuade はラテン語 persuadere「すっかり納得させる」に由来します。per- は「徹底的に」、suadere は「勧める」で、相手の心まで言葉を通して動かす感じがあり、関連語に persuasion と dissuade があります。
Persuader is formed from persuade plus the agent suffix -er. Persuade comes from Latin persuadere, made from per- "thoroughly" and suadere "to advise, urge."
