physicalityはphysical + -ityで、physicalはギリシャ語physis「自然」にさかのぼります。もとは自然界に属するものという感覚で、そこから肉体そのものの存在感や生々しい身体性を表す語になりました。近縁語にphysics、physiqueがあります。
