覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
physicist は physics を知っていればかなり取りやすい語です。まず physics は「物理学」、語尾の -ist は pianist, artist, scientist などと同じく「その分野の人」。つまり physics + -ist で「物理をやる人」と固めると覚えやすいです。physical は「物理の・身体の」で人ではない点、さらに綴りが近い physician は「医師」でまったく別語なので要注意。文脈では theoretical physicist, experimental physicist のように専門分野つきでよく見ます。
Build it from `physics` plus `-ist`, the same person-ending as in `artist` or `scientist`. That makes `physicist` easy to see as "a person in physics." Be careful not to mix it up with `physician`, which looks similar but means something completely different.

physicist はギリシャ語 physis「自然」から生まれた physics に、人を表す -ist が付いた語です。もともと「自然を研究する人」という成り立ちなので「物理学者」が腑に落ち、関連語に physical と physiology があります。
