シナプス（神経細胞の接合部）の信号を送る側の部分。神経伝達物質を放出する神経終末の側を指す科学用語。
Presynaptic means located on or relating to the part of a nerve cell that sends a signal across a synapse. It is mainly used in biology and neuroscience.

pre- は「前」、post- は「後」とセットで覚えると定着しやすい語です。synaptic は synapse の形容詞なので、presynaptic で「シナプスの前側」。図で pre → synapse → post と流れを書き、presynaptic を“信号を出す側”、postsynaptic を“受ける側”として対にすると混同しにくくなります。実際にも presynaptic terminal、presynaptic neuron のように、神経伝達物質を放出する側を指して使われます。
