To reassess means to examine something again in order to judge it more carefully or make a new decision. It is commonly used for plans, risks, situations, or values when conditions have changed.

re- が付くので「もう一度」がまず核。assess を assessment（評価）で知っていれば、その動詞版に re- を足して「再評価する」と取りやすい。単なる review より、数字・価値・方針を新情報に基づいて見直し、判断を更新する感じが強い。reassess the plan / risk / situation の形でよく出る。最初の判断が前提にあり、それを改める場面と結びつけて覚えると定着しやすい。

reassess は re-「再び」+ assess で、assess はラテン語 assidere「そばに座る」にさかのぼります。session や sedentary と同じ語根で、対象のそばに腰を据えてもう一度値踏みする感覚から「再評価する」になりました。
Reassess is made from re- "again" and assess. Assess goes back to Latin assidere, literally "to sit beside," from ad- "to" and sedere "to sit."
