一度決めたことや考えたことをあらためて見直す動作を指す動詞です。新しい情報や状況の変化を受けて、以前の判断や計画をもう一度検討するという意味です。問題解決や意思決定の場面で使われることが多いです。

rethink は re-「再び」と、古英語由来の think「考える」から成る。thought や thoughtful と同根で、いったん考えたことをもう一度頭の中で組み直す感覚があり、「考え直す」という意味が形そのままに見える。
